The Journey of
Sedrak Ulmnetsi
Born in Armenia in 1961, the mind and soul of Sedrak Khzrtian can be traced back at least one hundred years prior, to the freedom-loving spirit of the village of Zeytun, also known as Ulnia, nestled as an invincible fortress atop the jagged cliffs. It wouldn’t take long for the teenage artist to adopt the name of his ancestral hometown as his pseudonym, Sedrak Ulmnetsi. Six decades since, Sedrak Ulmnetsi continues to live up to this name with the power of his vision and his iconoclastic choice of color and form, continually redefining his own style as he unveils each new corner of his self for the viewer.
Sedrak received his training as a painter and an artist at the renowned Hakob Kojoyan School of the Arts, which he started to attend as a child. Later on, he would discover and nurture his talent as an architect at the Yerevan State Polytechnic Institute. This natural synthesis of color, structure, and geometry would allow Sedrak to unleash the force of his inner creativity in full strength, be it on canvas, paper, or blueprint. His artworks have been displayed in Yerevan and abroad, currently finding place in private collections around the world.
Inspired by the geniuses of Pablo Picasso, Gustav Klimt, and Vincent Van Gogh, Sedrak Ulmnetsi continues to create in his hometown of Yerevan, Armenia.
